Group Leaders Get Ready For Camp
The time has come to talk about camp!! The summer is not that far into the future. Summer plans
are already in the works so you have to get camp into the hearts and minds of your students and parents.
You maybe are wondering how to get kids to come to Crossings in 2010. Listed below are some ways to promote camp and to get kids excited about the summer:
- SHARE THE VISION | One-on-one conversations with your students and parents are best way to catch the vision of camp. Take time to answer their questions personally.
- PARENT LETTERS | This letter should include information about Crossings, the est. cost for camp, who is eligible to attend camp, etc. Also include a link to our Get Ready for Camp section for Parents Click here for Parents Get Ready for Camp
- DEPOSIT REMINDER | Remind parents that your church is only sending a $75/person deposit postmarked by February 15, 2010. The balance is not due till two weeks before camp date.
- MEET | Have a parent meeting ASAP.
- Get a parent of one of your students who went to camp last year to talk about it changed the life of their kid.
- Have videos available for the parents to see. Click here for videos

- Have all the information about camp available for parents to see i.e. cost, distance, etc
- VIDEOS |
- The Crossings website has a wide variety of videos. Click here for videos
- If you have been to Crossings before, use a video that shows past years with your students at camp
- PLATFORM | Talk about it from the platform.
- Interview a student who has been to camp either in a video format or live from the platform.
- Talk about how camp is a life-changing experience.
- PROMOTE | Posters and other promo materias are also available on the website Click here for promo downloads
- FUNDRAISERS | Promote Crossings camp through events that can also be used as fundraisers.
- Chili cook-off
- Sell coffee
- Formal dinner (Valentine’s day event)
- Rent-a-kid students do odd jobs around the house, be rented out
- Pie in the face auction
- Date night, provide the child care while parent s go out
- T-SHIRT | Create a t-shirt –get youth to design one, or use 524concepts (Crossings’ resource division) to help you with design and printing.
- INCENTIVES | Registration incentives
- First 20 students to register get a free tee-shirt (the one you designed for camp).
