Students Get Ready For Camp

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions about what to expect while at camp this summer.

What does a day at camp look like?

You can expect to experience crazy morning celebrations; Bible study and small-group discussion; fun POIs (the activities that you choose before camp) like tower climbing, horseback riding (Cedarmore only), tubing, messy games and more; and worship at night.  There will also be time to hang out and get to know one another and the staff, tasty buffet meals, and time to spend alone in prayer and Bible reading.

Where am I going to sleep?

We have all different kinds of lodging – no tents though.  Your group has already reserved your lodge space.  You’ll have bunk beds (camp just wouldn’t be the same without it!) in an air-conditioned room.  Make sure to bring a sleeping bag or blankets/sheets for your bed!

What fun things are there to do during my camp week?

We offer a diverse array of activities intended to serve a broad audience.  These activities are planned according to the gifts and abilities of the staff we have hired.  In addition to waterfront, climbing, and sport-related activities, POIs (Points of Impact) will also include drama, missions, in-depth Bible Study, games, creative ministries, arts and crafts, etc.  At night after worship, we will also have a Shack area for you to hang out and play games.  Every recreation activity is “challenge by choice.”  You can choose to participate in the recreation or encourage and cheer on those that are participating.  You will be encouraged, but not forced, to stretch yourself and go outside your comfort zone.

Do I have to swim or climb the tower?

Every recreation activity is “challenge by choice.”  You can choose to participate in the recreation or encourage and cheer on those that are participating.  You will be encouraged, but not forced, to stretch yourself and go outside your comfort zone.

Is there a camp store? Do I need extra spending money?

There will be a concession stand/camp store (called “The Shack”) open at times during camp where you can purchase drinks, snacks, hot food items, and tasty frozen treats.  There will also be Crossings merchandise available for purchase such as t-shirts, stickers, and highlight DVDs.

Does it cost extra to do the activities?

No, Crossings is an all-inclusive camp and all of the activities that you may want to participate in are already included in the price.

Do I have to wear a life jacket at the lake?

Yes, anyone who participates in our water activities or steps onto the dock must wear a fully buckled life jacket.  Don’t worry – everyone looks cool in a lifejacket.

What is the dress code?

We ask that all students and adults dress modestly.  For females, shorts need to be longer than fingertips when arm is extended down the side of leg.  We do not allow spaghetti strap tank tops or any tops where undergarments can be seen.  Swimsuits must be one piece, no exceptions. For females, shorts must be worn over swimsuits at all times, even in the water. For both males and females, shirts must be worn at all times when walking to and from the lake/pool.

Will I get to be with my friends in Bible Study and POIs?

Yes, in most of your activities you will be with some people from your church.  But meeting new people is fun too.

How do we fill out our Medical Release Forms?

You will be able to fill out Medical Release Forms online via the Get Ready For Camp section on our website.  The forms will be available in February.  You will probably need some info from your parents or guardians, so be sure to get there help before you start the process.
