Summer Staff Members are the Key to Building Relationships With Each Camper

Crossings is committed to preparing the next generation of church, ministry and world leaders.  Our college and post-college age students have an enormous amount of untapped potential that could be used for the glory of God’s kingdom and purpose.  Crossings recognizes that potential, and we are dedicated to training through camps and other experiences.

A 2005 CCAA survey report found that between 2000-2004, the average number of summer staff at any Christian camp nationwide declined by 29 percent from 124 per camp to 88, an all-time low.

While other camps may be hiring fewer staff, Crossings is continually seeking to hire more summer staff to maintain our low staff-to-camper ratio, fulfilling our goal of connecting through personal relationships.

Intentional Selection

Summer staff are carefully selected through a process of application, individual interviews and reference checks.  We search their hearts and passions as well as their spiritual foundations to be sure that each potential staff person is grounded and best-suited to work with campers. After much prayer, at the end of the process we feel we have the best group of summer staff possible.

Upon arrival, our program Crossings Life begins.  Crossings Life is a combination of mentoring among the staff and devotional study each day.  With the wild pace at camp, keeping focused on Christ is vital to effectiveness.

As we’ve heard from testimony after testimony, the connection between staff and camper is a key part of the relational process of connecting students to Christ.
